« Today the sun fell in a field, as big as a 33 rpm record, one extremely bright side is lit up like a beacon, on the other side it is night and very cold. When lifted it was not very heavy and easily suspended from a wire two meters off the ground. »
Laurent Chabot, Paris - Avril 1987.
The Prophets Arms and Land of Dreams, Multiples to signify a country.
Two sculptures by Hélène Lhote created for the exhibition Beirut, Galerie Terrain Vagh, 2021, two titles inspired by the work of Nadia Tuéni.
Bury the memories that the work allows to resurface. A tree of a thousand essences or a dreamworld leading the eye upward. Cocoons covered with inviolated platelets take refuge in the branches or are isolated, brave and lofty. Paying homage to the constantly overturned ideal of a harmonious society where all cultural and religious entities coexist in the same movement of elevation. And, the mirror - the mirror here and there, hollows out the walls and defines new perspectives.

L'IMPRIMERIE, AMIENS
All that glitters isn’t gold... and vice versa!
For her second exhibition in Amiens, the exercise consisted of Hélène LHOTE designing a “ready-to-hang” collection under her label L.N.2.3, the specificity of which is the cutting of mirrors. In 23 original works she will adorn the gallery from wall to ceiling. Her objects, some patinated by time, contrast with the shine of the mirrors, the enamel, the glass – the furniture weaves, the compositions of course evoke design as much as fashion, yet if we think about it, they are obviously sculptures.
THE OLD CHURCH MAISONS LAFFITTE
The Volte-Facettes exhibition was part of the program of events for the 2017-2018 season at Maisons-Laffitte. "Quite naturally Hélène Lhote took her place with her play of mirrors and light. For the Old Church, she designed a pathway of reflections, exploded images and for the Alter, a ladder of enamel and mirrors deformed in the reflections in the hemispherical surveillance mirrors. Allegory of life, of the steps that we climb or not, of what we perceive and of what is - light, colours, attraction, hope, but also the control that oppresses and distorts.

SOPHIE MARCELLIN GALLERY – PARIS
Hélène Lhote elaborates visual traps where superimposed frames create iridescence, glistening shimmers, lustrous ripples, reminiscences of the Mashrabiya of her childhood create a paradoxical space. The choice of her materials reflects the quality in her work: enamel on metal for brilliance and depth of colour. Invited by the Galerie Sophie Marcellin to exhibit in an orientalist setting, it was quite naturally the “Frontal” series that was installed.
